Boy dies in San Fernando Bukidnon crossfire

A 12 year old boy died in a San Fernando, Bukidnon crossfire between the Philippine Army and suspected New People’s Army last Sunday at around 3 PM.

According to this report, the unnamed boy was caught in the middle of the crossfire and got hit while the rebels were withdrawing from Sitio Mahayag, Barangay Naman, San Fernando.

The rebels had earlier attacked the patrol base of the 69th Infantry Battalion, leaving a soldier dead and two of his comrades wounded.

San Fernando authorities said the rebels got 3 M16 rifles, 3 M14 rifles, and a K3 machine gun from the army side.

Reports say that the soldiers were deployed to the area to provide security to the construction of the Bukidnon –Davao del Norte road project.
