EXCLUSIVE (with photos): Bukidnon Rep. Flores lauds release of abducted policemen

In what was considered a cautious, private event, the New People’s Army (NPA) rebel group has recently released the two policemen abducted at a checkpoint in Impasugong, Bukidnon in April. The NPA released SPO1 Warren Coñales and PO3 Edwin Castor last May 3, 2016. They were welcomed by their respective families.

According to reports, the two Bukidnon policemen’s release was a result of negotiations with the help of the local crisis committee and third party facilitators.

Bukidnon 2nd District Congressman Florencio Flores, Jr. sent a statement exclusively to Bukidnon Online:

“The release was a significant display of sincerity about the need to hold genuine peace talk/negotiation between the government and the CCP-NDF. Likewise, it also emphasized that there is a need for peace talk to begin in order to experience an end to this armed struggle/conflict which has been going on for decades.”
