Bukidnon man walks for 36 days to see Pope Francis

It’s a story of a father who wants to receive blessings for his sick child. Sixty six year old Antolin Adlawan of Kitaotao walked all the way from Bukidnon to Tacloban just to see, attend mass and receive blessings from Pope Francis. The Pontiff visited Leyte last Saturday, January 17, 2015.

His main motivation? He has a child afflicted with leukemia (blood cancer).

Adlawan said that he walked for a total of 36 days. He celebrated Christmas and New Year on the road. He slept at churches and underneath bridges. While resting, he said he read the Bible. Some people offered him money to serve as his fare to Tacloban but he declined. His 36-day trip on foot was more of a sacrifice.
