PROVINCE OF BUKIDNON – The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) of Bukidnon has appealed to Senator Loren Legarda to extend the Agricultural Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (ACEF) to agricultural students here.
In a resolution authored by Second District Board Member Atty. Nemesio “Jun” Beltran, the Bukidnon provincial board cited Legarda’s statement that the government would provide P100 million worth of scholarships to some indigent students to be funded by the ACEF.
Beltran said that the full scholarships, which would accordingly be offered to students who would take up agri-related courses in state colleges and universities, would help the students especially those who come from indigent families.
“The economy of the Province of Bukidnon is centered on agriculture and there are many students who are enrolled in our two universities in agriculture-related courses,” according to Beltran’s resolution.
The said resolution is up for approval this week, according to Beltran.
Legarda is the chairperson of the Senate Committee on Agricultural and the Congressional Oversight Committee on Agricultural and Fisheries Modernization.
