BUSECO to be disconnected, guv calls for possible rally to oust directors

Bukidnon Gov. Jose Ma. Zubiri, Jr., via an audio clip, has officially confirmed that his office received a letter from the Bukidnon Sub-Transmission Corporation (BSTC) informing him of the impending disconnection/suspension of service to the Bukidnon Second Electric Cooperative or BUSECO on September 15, 2016 at exactly 12 noon.

This means that all member-consumers of BUSECO will not have electricity. The cause of this fiasco? BSTC, via a notice to the public, said that BUSECO has failed to pay their delinquent accounts.

The affected areas will include Malaybalay City, Lantapan, Cabanglasan, Impasugong, Sumilao, Manolo Fortich, Malitbog, Libona, Baungon, Talakag and Barangay Lilingayon in Valencia City.

BSTC said that they will only expedite the restoration of service to BUSECO upon receipt of FULL payment of BUSECO’s financial obligations.

The problem now is – does BUSECO have the capacity to pay their utang in full?

Naturally, BUSECO customers are now asking — what happened to our payments? Did you not forward it to BSTC? Exactly how much do you owe? Do you have a financial plan in place? How much of the consumers’ payments go to the interests (if any) of these utangs?

Listen to Zubiri’s audio clip below:

In the clip, you can hear Zubiri say that in case the electricity connection won’t be restored by Thursday next week, “mag-rally kita. Padunggan nato sa atong pinalanggang Presidente nga pulihan na kini mga board of directors sa BUSECO.”

As of this posting, Bukidnon Online heard that BUSECO will release a statement in the next few hours to address this issue.

According to their online profile, BUSECO calls their group as “a distribution utility operating in the northern part of Bukidnon. It envisions a comprehensive 10-year development program designed to satisfy the ever insatiable needs of the member consumer towards a more reliable, viable and efficient electric cooperative.”
