CompTIA Certification Exams for Validating Storage Management Skills

Vendor specific certification exams can be helpful for IT professionals that are required to work with particular storage solutions and software in their everyday job duties; however, a vendor neutral certification exam, like the Storage+ exam (SG0-001) available from CompTIA, ensures that candidates possess the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for working with any and all storage solutions in any enterprise and/or server environment. Essentially, this means that the SG0-001 exam validates overall storage management skills and abilities for any IT professional.

The CompTIA SG0-001 exam requires candidates to demonstrate their knowledge and skills with configuring basic networks, including the establishment of protocols for archiving, backing up, and restoring data. Selecting the appropriate technologies to address enterprise specific storage concerns is also covered on the SG0-001 exam. Additionally, test takers must be able to show they’re capable of assessing business continuity and system integration requirements, as well as application workload and storage administration needs.

There are no prerequisites for taking the SG0-001 exam, but CompTIA does recommend a minimum of 12 months related experience as well as prior certification through CompTIA in A+, Network+ or Server+. Additional exam prep activities are also recommended, and may include formal training, self-study, and the use of practice exams and tutorials from sites like TestsLive.com
