DBP bank Malaybalay robbed of P500,000; two hurt, one dead

MALAYBALAY CITY | CRIME | BUKIDNON NEWS – A Twitter friend, who also happens to write for the Inquirer, alerted me about this earlier today. Apparently, a bank robbery in Malaybalay City happened earlier today, Monday, at around 10 in the morning.

At least three (3) bank robbers allegedly managed to take P500,000.00 early Monday morning while bank employees of the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) were replenishing cash into the DBP automated teller machine (ATM). A Bombo Radyo news report identified the cashier as Marie Cheryl Bolivia. The ATM machine is located at the Jose Un Building along Fortich Street, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.

The still unidentified suspects shot the two bank security guards. One security guard, identified as one Isidro Cabalida, was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival. The other security guard, identified as one Pablito Padayao, is badly hurt. Meanwhile, a certain Anna Liza Saludes, was hurt by a stray bullet.

It’s pretty scary to think that this happened a few weeks before the start of the Kaamulan Festival 2011.
