Former Bukidnon congressman Neric Acosta to become DENR Secretary

BUKIDNON NEWS | BUKIDNON PERSONALITIES | POLITICS – He may have lost his senatorial bid in the recently concluded May 2010 elections but former Bukidnon First District Congressman JR Nereus “Neric” Acosta will not be entirely out of the limelight pretty soon.

Insiders say that Acosta, who ran under the Liberal Party (LP) banner led by standard bearer President-elect Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, will likely be appointed as the new Secretary of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) after a year.

Aquino cannot appoint Acosta just yet as there is a one-year ban on appointment of candidates who lost in the most recent elections.
