MALAYBALAY NEWS | BUKIDNON NEWS | BUKIDNON BLOG – Yep. You better believe it. The Malaybalay City Jail has been adjudged the Best Jail in Region 10. Out of 4 city jails, in Northern Mindanao, the Malaybalay City Jail was considered the best.
Can I hear an “Amen”?
According to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology – Northern Mindanao, the award for Malaybalay City was because of the jail’s “zero escape” stats. The Malaybalay City Jail also apparently complies with administrative as well as operational matters.

The "best jail" award should go to the facility with the best and most humane conditions for the prisoners. In most countries the number of escapes per year is usually counted as escapes per hundred years because it is rare indeed when a prisoner is allowed to escape. My local jail in Pennsylvania had an escape about 20 or 30 years ago and it was so uncommon an episode that it was big news. In fact, it is big news when there is an ATTEMPTED escape.
