New photos of Capitol Grounds Malaybalay City – this is where your money went

Fresh from our month-long trip in America as Philippine delegate to the US Government Department of State-sponsored International Visitor Leadership Program 2012 (this is a program for emerging global leaders), we decided to do a mini photo walk around Malaybalay City, Bukidnon and check if there are any changes worth sharing with our Bukidnon Online readers.

One of the areas we visited was the Capitol Grounds in front of the Provincial Capitol building in Malaybalay City. We were curious as to how the joggers lane and landscaping project worth Php 1.7 MILLION looked like these days.

Yes, you read that right. Php 1.7 Million for a joggers lane and landscaping project. One that was not even completed in time for Kaamulan Festival 2012. Why, you ask? Your guess is as good as mine.

So see for yourselves, Bukidnon. See where your money went.

These photos were taken last Saturday, May 12, 2012. We don’t even know how to properly describe the “landscaping” part. Our Php 10,000-worth landscaping project at our own home looks way better than a flimsy looking young palm tree, several stones and ordinary looking fauna.

When should this project be finished? The Kaamulan Festival 2012, the Malaybalay City Charter Day and now, even the Malaybalay City 2012 fiesta have come and gone. And yet this project remains unfinished.

Don’t tell me they will need MORE money for this? Oh puhlease.

You can read the other details of this nearly 2 Million peso jogging path and landscaping project in Malaybalay City here and please let us know if the money was well spent.

If not, should the public demand for explanations? Who is supposed to monitor projects like these? Will heads even roll?

Whose project was this again? Voters in Bukidnon should know and should take note. Remember, you have the power in next year’s elections.
