In a copy of Abellanosa’s sworn statement to the NBI obtained by BukidnonOnline.com, Abellanosa admitted to “robbing, hacking and stabbing” Santoninio last November 18, 2010.

Abellanosa said that he and his companion, together with “kauban sa amoang gang” (gang mates) were on a drinking spree at an establishment along Magsaysay Street, Barangay 2, Malaybalay City. After their drinking spree, they walked along Pimentel Street. They stopped at a closed variety store. It was then when Santoninio passed by. He was alone.

Abellanosa then said that he and his companion asked the victim to surrender his mobile phone and Apple iPod. But he resisted, Abellanosa reasoned.

“Dili man niya ihatag beh so mao to,” Abellanosa allegedly claimed.

He then said that he hacked Santoninio by the neck. His companion allegedly stabbed the victim at least 12 times.

Another companion, who was there at the scene and who later became a witness of the prosecution, said that they tried to stop Abellanosa’s companion but the suspect still continued to stab Santoninio.

Jay Jasper Santoninio was robbed of his Apple iPod, mobile phone, ATM card and cash.

After the crime, the suspects allegedly went to a nearby establishment and continued their drinking spree. They later sold the iPod and the mobile phone. The said items were eventually recovered by authorities.

Abellanosa is 17 years old. Despite his being a minor, however, the robbery with homicide case may still move forward especially since he has been captured by authorities at least 10 times already.
