Army, rebels clash anew in San Fernando, Bukidnon

BUKIDNON NEWS | SAN FERNANDO BUKIDNON – An encounter between troops of the 8th Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army and the New Peoples Army (NPA) transpired at a remote village in Pantaron Range, Sitio Abakahon, Barangay Nacabuklad, San Fernando, Bukidnon February 3, 2013 at 7:30 a.m.

Members of the Bravo Company of the 8th IB reportedly encountered around 20 armed men believed to be members of Sandatahang Platon Pampropaganda 3, Front Committee 6, North Central Mindanao Regional Committee under Reynante Tumbalang also known as Kumander Jigger.

A firefight ensued for about 20 minutes and resulted in the recovery of personal belongings, assorted medical supplies and subversive documents. After the encounter, the NPA rebels allegedly withdrew as government troops continued hot pursuit. (with a media release from the 8IB/403Bde/4ID/PIA10)
