Army seizes weapons, explosives from NPA base at Mount Kitanglad range

Members of the 1st Special Forces Battalion under the 403rd Infantry Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, recovered several weapons and explosives from the New People’s Army (NPA) in raids conducted simultaneously in four different locations in Bukidnon.

The operation succeeded because former NPA rebels, who have voluntarily surrendered, pinpointed the location of the base.

According to the military, they recovered 7 high powered firearms, improved explosive devices, ammunition and medicines within the guerrilla base of the NPA within the Mount Kitanglad Mountain Ranges on September, 15 2020.

Mount Kitanglad Mountain Ranges cover the towns of Lantapan, Impasug-ong, Sumilao, Libona. Talakag, Manolo Fortich and the City of Malaybalay.

Col. Ferdinand T Barandon, commander of the 403rd Infantry Brigade, assured that “all NPA terrorists who surrender will be treated with respect and dignity. They will be assisted by the government to rejoin society.” (Report by Bukidnon Online special correspondent Mel B. Madera)
