Bugo, Cagayan de Oro to Malaybalay highway plans underway
A new “high standard national highway” that will link Malaybalay City to Bugo, Cagayan de Oro City is in the offing.
This is what Cagayan de Oro Councilor Atty. Edgar Cabanlas shared recently. Cabanlas said that construction of the said new CDO to Malaybalay highway will start in 2022 and will be operational by 2026.
“The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) with (the) assistance of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will conduct the feasibility study and the final route of this new highway,” Cabanlas said.
Currently, travelers from Malaybalay take Sayre Highway to reach CDO.
“A meeting held last March 25, 2021 at the Barangay Hall of Puerto attended by Barangay officials of Bugo, Puerto and Balubal focused on the environmental impact of this project on affected Barangays. CLENRO with its head Engr Armen Aviola Cuenca led the discussion with officials from DPWH,” Cabanlas added.
