CONFIRMED: Bukidnon has first COVID-19 positive case
Bukidnon now has its first COVID-19 positive patient. This was confirmed through Valencia City, Bukidnon Mayor Azucena Huervas‘ statement released today, April 9, 2020.
In the statement, Huervas confirmed that a person under investigation (PUI) tested positive for the deadly Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). The patient, a resident of Barangay Lumbayao, Valencia, apparently attended the controversial derby in Matina, Davao City last March 12, 2020.
A post on the Bukidnon Health Office also confirmed the news. Accordingly, the patient is under home quarantine and his immediate community has been “locked down.” Extensive contact tracing is also underway to ensure that everyone who had close contact with the patient will be isolated.
This latest development in Bukidnon comes in the heels of the declaration of stricter quarantine implementation. Among the additional guidelines is the fact that non-Bukidnon residents can no longer enter the province and residents can no longer enter when they do travel outside the province.
