Earthquake hits Bukidnon

A mild quake rocked Malaybalay City in Bukidnon province at 12:42 a.m., Wednesday, May 19. Rey Macaspac of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the quake was recorded at intensity II with 3.0 magnitude.

He said the quake was tectonic. Its epicenter was 20 kilometers south and 59 kilometers west of Malaybalay City. “The quake was very shallow with a depth of.02 meter, hitting only Malaybalay City. There were no damage or aftershocks recorded,” he added.

He also emphasized that the mild tremors that hit some areas in the country is due to several active faults in the Philippines. (PIA 10-Bukidnon)
