Free carabao milk for 7000 Bukidnon children

A total of 7,321 children in Bukidnon will be given carabao’s milk for free. Under a pilot project of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), the free carabao milk will be given to day care center children, aged 3 to 5 years old, as part of the government’s feeding program.

Each child will receive 200 milligrams of milk.

The children identified as recipients live in San Fernando, Maramag and Damulog towns. According to an article by the Inquirer, 1,270 children come from Damulog while 3,033 children come from San Fernando and the remaining 3,018 from Maramag.

The milk will be sourced from the Philippine Carabao Centers including one in Central Mindanao University, Maramag, Bukidnon.

The milk will come from the yield of carabaos of small hold dairy farmers and is processed, packaged and delivered in ready-to-drink packs. The dairy farmers will be paid according to the volume of the milk that they deliver to the carabao center.
