Gov. Zubiri, Rep. Manoy to swap posts in 2022 polls

Bukidnon Governor Jose Ma. Zubiri, Jr. will swap political positions with his son, Bukidnon 3rd District Congressman Manuel Zubiri in the upcoming 2022 national elections.

The older Zubiri, who is now on his last allowable term as Bukidnon governor, announced this during his radio program.

Nonoy Joe Zubiri said that he is optimistic he still has the full support of the people of the Bukidnon 3rd District, where he started his political career.

He will be facing Bukidnon 4th District board member Arlyn Ayon who was the first to declare candidacy for the gubernatorial seat.

Although Ayon is a board member serving the 4th District, she has reportedly transferred her voter registration to the 3rd District, which covers the Municipalities of Maramag, Quezon, Don Carlos, Kitaotao, Dangcagan, Kibawe, Damulog, and Kadingilan.

“My son Manoy is planning to run as the Provincial Governor next election,” Gov. Zubiri said.

But Congressman Manoy Zubiri has not confirmed this as of press time, insisting instead that he is focused in helping the people hit by the Covid-19 pandemic by distributing food packs, livelihood assistance, and construction materials.

If ever Manuel “Manoy” Zubiri will run as Governor, his opponent would be Bukidnon 4th District Representative last-termer Rogelio Neil Roque who already declared his candidacy. (With a report from Bukidnon Online special correspondent Mel B. Madera)
