Lawyer-son of Cong. Flores to run for Malaybalay mayor?
Bukidnon Online first broke the news about Atty. John Flores, the son of incumbent Bukidnon Second District Rep. Florencio Flores, Jr. taking his oath as a member of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino – Lakas ng Bayan or PDP Laban, the ruling party of the Philippines and of which President Rodrigo Duterte is a part of. Atty. Jonathan Keith Flores or Atty. John Flores took that oath last December 2017.
Now, it seems the political wheel is finally turning. There are rumors that Atty. John Flores will gun for the Malaybalay City mayoralty seat in the 2019 elections, a seat his father also used to occupy for 3 straight terms.
The Bukidnon Paglaum Party, which initially supported Mar Roxas, eventually threw support for Duterte in 2016. However, even if the BPP supported Duterte, it will be Atty. John Flores who will still enjoy strong support from Duterte and the PDP Laban. Flores is an official PDP-Laban member and the provincial PDP-Laban chairman. Duterte is the PDP Laban National Chairman.
“Public service has always been and is in my blood. Today, I made it a bit more official. Very honored to take my oath as official PDP Laban member before the party’s National Secretary General, Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez. I’m Atty. Jonathan Keith Flores. Proud dad, husband, lawyer and proud son of Bukidnon 2nd District Rep. Florencio Flores, Jr. Inyong kaabag sa balaod,” wrote the younger Flores on his official Facebook page.
