A man who is allegedly a Malaybalay City resident but who is now working in Quezon City stole a Super 5 van at the Laguindingan Airport yesterday, January 4, 2015.

Authorities named the suspect as Victor Zambas, who reportedly spent the holidays in Malaybalay. Zambas stole the van and rammed through the airport gate.

Another van tried to block the stolen vehicle, prompting the suspect to step down and steal another vehicle, a taxi this time.

Zambas also rammed through a police checkpoint at the Municipality of Libertad.

Police eventually caught the suspect in Initao.

Zambas is facing carnapping and physical injuries cases.

Zambas told authorities that he stole the van because hitmen were after him.
