Proposed: Bukidnon Hymn to be sung in all Bukidnon events

PROVINCE OF BUKIDNON – A provincial board member here has recently proposed that the Bukidnon Hymn be sung after the singing of the National Anthem in any program, activity or event in the Province of Bukidnon.

In his proposed ordinance, Bukidnon Second District Board Member Atty. Jun Beltran said that the Bukidnon Hymn “reminds us of the good climate and environment that we are blessed to have, and hence, it is just but proper, that the words, the lyrics and the hymn itself, should be instilled and inculcated in the minds and hearts of our people, youth and adult alike.”

Beltran told Bukidnon Online that those who have been away from the province will always feel homesick and nostalgic upon hearing the hymn.

“If we can show love and patriotism to our country through the singing of the national anthem, we should show our love and patriotism as well to our beloved province by singing the Bukidnon hymn,” he said.

The Bukidnon hymn was composed by Filemon O. Bautista between 1925-1932. The Binukid version was written by Prudencio Caterial.

According to the proposal, it shall be the duty and obligation of the head of office and program organizer to see to it that the singing of the Bukidnon hymn shall be rendered right after the singing of the national anthem, such as but not limited to, flag ceremonies in schools and offices and sessions of the Sanggunian Panlalawigan, Panlungsod, Bayan and Pambarangay. In any other program, activity or event, the Bukidnon hymn may be sung prior to the end of such program, activity or event. (MISA / Bukidnon Online News)
