Senator Migs Zubiri calls for BSTC investigation

Bukidnon Online just got word – Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri has filed a resolution asking the Senate Committee on Energy to conduct an investigation on the impending power disconnection of the Bukidnon Second Electric Cooperative (BUSECO) by the Bukidnon Sub-Transmission Corporation (BSTC) supposedly on September 15, 2016.

Zubiri has filed P.S. Resolution Number 133 today, September 8 2016. Zubiri’s resolution asserts that the impending disconnection will also cause serious injury on households, businesses, schools and other establishments and institutions including 19 hospitals.

Zubiri also told Bukidnon Online that he spoke to Department of Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi and that the latter said he will investigate as well.

“We are not going to allow the disconnection to happen. The people’s interest are a priority and no one entity or utility can make the people suffer. We won’t allow it.”

BSTC, via a notice to the public, said that they will temporarily disconnect service to BUSECO until the latter pays its delinquent accounts in full. Bukidnon Governor Jose Ma. Zubiri, Jr., Senator Zubiri’s father, also confirmed that his office received a letter from BSTC, informing him of the suspension of service.
