Updates and photos – Bukidnon 5.2 magnitude earthquake

Today, we received reports that at least 16 people have sustained injuries following the strong earthquake. No casualties have been reported yet, according to Malaybalay City Ignacio Zubiri. Zubiri told BukidnonOnline.com that he spoke to the Valencia City mayor. Officials from the Valencia Sanitarium Hospital also confirmed that their building sustained cracks and that some of the patients have been transferred to other hospitals. Some residents also told Bukidnon Online that there were sink holes as well. Valencia City Mayor Leandro Catarata has already instructed the city’s department heads to extend help. Social workers have also been sent to Barangay Lumbayao, where a landslide reportedly occurred.

The Bukidnon earthquake registered 5.2 magnitude on the Richter scale. The earthquake, according to PHIVOLCS, is tectonic in nature. Meanwhile, here are some photos sent to BukidnonOnline.com by Francis Awiten, a resident of Valencia City. He was only able to take photos of Roy Plaza and Gaisano Valencia (both buildings sustained cracks and damages) as authorities have already banned entrance to other buildings in Valencia City for safety reasons.
