BUKIDNON NEWS | BUKIDNON POLITICS | BUKIDNON ELECTION WATCH 2013 – The top 2 government officials in Bukidnon have formally filed their certificates of candidacy (COCs) at the Provincial Commission on Elections (COMELEC) office today, October 3, 2012.
Bukidnon Governor Alex Calingasan and Vice Governor Jose Ma. Zubiri, Jr. filed their COCs late Wednesday morning. Both are running under the Bukidnon Paglaum Party (BPP).
The two are set to switch positions – Calingasan will run for Vice Governor while Zubiri will run for Governor.
They first established their Zubiri – Calingasan tandem in 2001. Zubiri served as governor for 3 consecutive terms before he swapped places with Calingasan.
Theirs was not a smooth sailing political partnership, however. There were reports that the two were on bitter terms after Zubiri accused Calingasan of various issues including funding a radio commentator’s regular attack against him. Calingasan has denied Zubiri’s accusations. The two allegedly made peace in August.
