Bukidnon News – “We’re just trying to solve Bukidnon’s power problem one step at a time.”
This was former Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri’s statement to Bukidnon Online in relation to the recent power supply agreement signing between First Bukidnon Electric Cooperative (FIBECO) and Asian Greenergy Corporation, which he leads.
The partnership between the two groups will allow the supply of 12 MW of renewable solar energy to Bukidnon, seen to help address the prevailing power shortage in Mindanao.
The Zubiri-led Asian Greenergy Corporation will put up a P1 Billion solar power plant in Barangay Labuagon, Kibawe, Bukidnon. The company already received its renewable energy service contract from the Department of Energy. Asian Greenergy Corporation counts Soleq, of Singapore-based Equis Funds Group Pte Ltd, as partner in this project.
Zubiri said that an initial 4 MW can already be delivered by September this year. The entire 12 MW will be ready for delivery by March 2015.
The former senator and three-term Bukidnon congressman authored the Renewable Act of 2008 as well as the Biofuels Act of 2006.
